The new version 6 marks an important milestone in our development and represents the most significant update since years. Detailed documentations as well as the corresponding updates are available in our download section for every service version (please refer to the sub navigation).
New client functionalities (desktop & server)
D/L client as a service
The Desktop and Laptop Edition Backup Client is now installed as a service from version 6.0 adding robustness and additional functionality, including remote management.
Health check
A health check can be performed on demand to verify the available free space for the cache folder, database and temporary working space, and will highlight any potential issues.
64-bit support
MOUNT10 Server Edition is enhanced to support 64-bit platforms.
Exchange plug-in
Exchange 2003 now supports the option to restore to the Recovery Storage Group and a plug-in for Exchange 2007 is also available.
Oracle 10g
The Oracle plug-in is improved by adding support for Oracle 10g. (Good Oracle skills are required).
Share Point
A plug-in for SharePoint is introduced. This plug-in supports restores down to item/document level.
VSS functionality
Quite a number of enhancements are added in the Backup Client to optimise the functionality provided by Microsoft VSS. A VSS database plug-in is introduced to support the VSS readers and writers in supported applications. This plug-in does not require the database dump file, as currently required by existing plug-ins. The Backup Client will update the cache slightly faster, if VSS is enabled.
New client functions on the StorageCenter (Eco & Pro)
Enhanced profiling
Enhanced Profiling, available on Backup Group level in the StorageCenter Console includes additional functionality, including advanced options and the backup selection. Profiled settings modified in this section will override the Backup Client configuration, giving control back to the StorageCenter administrator. Only available for ECO and PRO systems.
MirrorServer
A toolbar button to cancel the Mirroring process is now available in the StorageCenter Console. MirrorServer traffic shaping is introduced allowing a shaping schedule to specify transfer rate limits e.g. to use 64kb/s from 08h00 until 18h00 and then 128kb/s. A new mirroring option enables you to create and store the same amount of month-ends on the MirrorServer as configured on the FileServer without physically mirroring the month-ends. The option to mirror a MirrorServer (daisy chain) is also available.
Sanity check
Sanity Checks can now be configured in the StorageCenter Console and missing index files are also included in the Sanity Check process.
Moving accounts
Backup Clients (v5) can now be moved to another Backup Group on the same StorageCenter. |
